Psilocybe cubensis Fiji is a South Pacific cubensis strain originally collected from the remote islands of Fiji around 2010. It is a visually distinctive landrace strain with a pointed-cap expression.
Fiji makes a useful strain comparison option beside catalog strains such as Pink Buffalo, Dimple Cap, Golden Teacher and Tidal Wave.
Habitat: bovine and equine dung, and enriched soils
Climate: subtropical
Origin: Fiji
Cap: typically pale golden brown to caramel brown, often with a pointed or slightly raised center in expressing specimens.
Stem: whitish to pale yellowish, firm and fibrous, bruising blue where damaged. A partial veil is present in young fruit bodies and may leave a membranous ring or limited veil traces as the specimen matures.
Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish in young fruit bodies, becoming dark purplish brown to nearly black as spores mature.
Spores: dark purplish brown, subellipsoid, produced on 4-spored basidia.
For the same Fiji strain in liquid 10 ml format, see the Psilocybe cubensis Fiji spore syringe.
