Description

Spores are supplied as spore prints on heavy foil. Each print is individually packaged and prepared for clean, stable storage. Spore print size and density may vary by species and variety.

Psilocybe cubensis McKennaii is a modern high-recognition cubensis strain named in honor of Terence McKenna, the American ethnobotanical writer, lecturer and countercultural figure closely associated with public interest in Psilocybe mushrooms. The exact origin of this strain is uncertain, so no specific wild collection location should be assumed.

McKennaii is as popular as other major catalog names such as Golden Teacher, Tidal Wave and Amazonian.

Habitat: bovine and equine dung, and enriched soils
Climate: subtropical
Origin: unknown

Cap: typically golden brown to caramel brown, convex toward broader mature forms.

Stem: whitish to pale yellowish, firm and fibrous, bruising blue where damaged. A partial veil is present in young fruit bodies and may leave a faint ring zone or veil traces with maturity.

Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish in young fruit bodies, becoming dark purplish brown to nearly black as spores mature.

Spores: dark purplish brown, subellipsoid, produced on 4-spored basidia.

For the same McKennaii strain in liquid 10 ml format, see the Psilocybe cubensis McKennaii spore syringe.
