Psilocybe galindoi ATL#7 Spore Print

Category: Exotic Psilocybe Spore Prints

Description

Spores are supplied as spore prints on heavy foil. Each print is individually packaged and prepared for clean, stable storage. Spore print size and density may vary by species and variety.

ATL#7 is one of the best known Psilocybe mexicana complex sclerotia forming strains in circulation. This particular ATL#7 strain is hard to find today, and Sporeworks has kept the original early-2000s circulation strain available for buyers who want the authentic genetics rather than a renamed substitute. ATL#7 is obsreved to form large truffles, dark spore deposits and broader caps when it fruits, although fruitbody flushes are usually not as abundant as with Pollock.

Psilocybe galindoi was first formally described from specimens collected in Nuevo León, Mexico. The species was described in 1978 by Mexican mycologist Gastón Guzmán and named in honor of Dr. Efrén Galindo.

For a more detailed comparison of ATL#7 and Pollock and their history, see our article Psilocybe galindoi ATL#7 vs Psilocybe tampanensis Pollock: two famous truffle strains, one species?.

Habitat: humus-rich soil, moss and grassy debris
Climate: humid subtropical to montane mesic climate
Origin: Nuevo León, Mexico

Sclerotia and fruiting profile: ATL#7 is forms large sclerotia and is one of the foundation strains behind the Dutch truffle industry. Fruitbody production is not usually as heavy as Pollock, but ATL#7 can produce dark spore deposits and relatively broad caps when it does fruit.

Cap: 0.5–2.5 cm wide, smooth, slightly viscid when moist and hygrophanous. ATL#7 fruitbodies can show large cap development. This is usually not expected from a sclerotia-forming exotic strain.

Stem: thin and fragile, 40–90 mm long, cylindrical and yellowish. Surface silky to finely fibrillose, bruising bluish.

Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed, grayish when young and becoming purple brown with maturity.

Spores: smooth, thick-walled, ellipsoid to subrhomboid and dark purplish brown.
ATL#7 prints are uncommon and can be difficult to source compared with standard Psilocybe cubensis spore prints.

For the same ATL#7 strain in syringe format, see the Psilocybe galindoi ATL#7 spore syringe. More rare print options are available in the Exotic Spore Prints category.
