Psilocybe Subaeruginosa Spore Syringe

Category: Exotic Psilocybe Spore Syringes

Description

Spores are supplied in sterile aqueous solution using 10 ml Luer-Lok syringes. One 40 mm 16ga needle is provided for each spore-filled syringe.

Psilocybe subaeruginosa is a temperate Australian wood-loving Psilocybe species. Unlike dung-associated cubensis strains, P. subaeruginosa is tied to rotting wood and woody debris.

Species: Psilocybe subaeruginosa
Habitat:
rotting wood and woody debris
Climate: temperate
Origin: Australia

Taxonomy and name: Psilocybe subaeruginosa was formally described in 1927 by Australian mycologist John Burton Cleland. The species name refers to the characteristic blue-green discoloration seen when fruit bodies are bruised or handled. Aeruginosa comes from Latin and refers to the bluish-green color of copper corrosion, commonly known as verdigris.

Cap: 12–50 mm wide, conical to conic-convex, often with a small pointed umbo. Young specimens may show veil remnants along the margin. Hygrophanous, ranging from yellow-brown to orange-brown and becoming paler toward the edges as it dries. With age or handling, the cap can stain greenish blue, while the inner flesh remains whitish.

Stem: 25–70 mm long and 2–3.5 mm thick, tall and slender, finely vertically lined, mealy toward the top with fine fibrils below. The base may be somewhat swollen, hollow inside, cartilaginous, pale whitish and streaked with darker grayish brown tones. Flesh is brownish and can stain greenish blue where handled. A white cortinate partial veil is present early and quickly disappears, sometimes leaving traces around the upper stem.

Gills: adnate to broadly adnexed, sometimes running slightly down the stipe. Pale smoky brown when young, becoming violet brown to purple-brown as spores mature, with narrow paler edges.

Spores: purple brown, smooth and subellipsoid, produced on clavate 4-spored basidia.
