Ordering microscopy materials online should be simple, discreet, and predictable. Over time, we’ve noticed that many customers ask the same practical questions before ordering: how the package is packed, what appears on the label, whether customs are involved, what shows up on the invoice, which couriers we use, and how delivery works in practice.
This page explains exactly what to expect when you place an order with Sporeworks.eu.
Plain and discreet packaging
All orders are shipped in discreet outer packaging.
Our outer packaging is a plain white box with no mention of spores or Sporeworks on the outside. The shipment is neutral and low-profile.
Spore prints are placed inside a cardboard envelope for extra protection.
Every order has a card that contains a link to the instructions.
We use clean, practical, and discreet packaging that protects the contents and avoids unnecessary labeling.

What appears on labels, invoices, and card statements?
We do not use Psilocybe markings on microscopy kits.
Instead, we use the strain name only, which is sufficient for successful determination and archiving. This keeps the packaging and documentation practical without adding unnecessary wording.
The same principle applies to invoices and billing descriptors:
- Our invoice does not mention Psilocybe
- There is no mention of spores or Sporeworks on your card statement
- There is no mention of Sporeworks on our return address
We keep orders straightforward and discreet.
Where do we ship from?
All orders are shipped from Austria.
Where do we ship?
We currently ship only to countries inside the Schengen Area and European Economic Area where our shipments are not subject to customs checks.
In destinations where customs checks apply, packages may be opened and additional import costs may occur.
Countries we currently serve are chosen specifically to avoid those complications. Please check our shipping costs page for costs and list of countries we ship to.
VAT and pricing
VAT is included in our prices.
There are no hidden VAT add-ons for the destinations we currently serve.
When orders are shipped
We usually ship on the next business day after the order is received and payment has cleared.
We do not ship on Fridays. All Friday and weekend orders are normally shipped on Monday.
This gives our customers a more predictable shipping flow and avoids packages sitting in courier networks over the weekend.
Which carriers we use
We offer shipping through national Post as this has been the most reliable delivery channel.
A realistic note on courier performance
Most shipments arrive without issue, but in real-world conditions courier performance is not always perfect.
As shipping networks get busier, couriers sometimes fail to properly update tracking, miss delivery windows and create delays that are outside of our control.
That is unfortunately part of the business. It is not on our side of the process, and we cannot control anything once the package is in their network.
That said, we do not leave customers alone with the problem. If a shipment looks delayed or tracking is unclear, we are always available to help on a case-by-case basis.
We understand that microscopy is important to hobbyists and collectors, and we do everything we can to make the experience as smooth as possible.
Delivery address options: what works best
Customers often ask whether delivery to a parcel box or pickup point is a good idea.
Residential address
A normal residential address has proven to be the best and most reliable delivery option overall.
Paketbox or package box
Delivery to a Paketbox or package box is possible in some countries, but we generally do not recommend it.
In some destinations this method has proved unreliable. If a customer chooses delivery to a package box and that specific box is not supported for the destination or service combination, we will contact the customer and ask for an alternative delivery address.
Parcel shop / pickup point
A parcel shop with staff on site is usually the better alternative for customers who are not home during the courier delivery window and want to avoid the hassle of a courier arriving at their door.
In practice, our recommendation is:
- Residential address — most reliable
- Parcel shop with staff — good alternative
- Paketbox / package box — possible in some cases, but less reliable
Choosing products and saving on shipping
If you are already placing an order, it often makes sense to browse the full range of microscopy products before checking out.
You can browse:
If you are ordering more than one item, it is often worth combining products into a single shipment. This is especially true with combo deals, where the savings come not only from the item selection itself, but also in avoiding repeated shipping costs across separate orders.
Popular bundle options include the Customer’s Choice 4 Pack Spore Syringes, the Sporeworks Choice 5 Pack Spore Syringes, and the Baker’s Dozen 13 Pack.
Free shipping over €80
All orders over €80 qualify for free shipping.
This creates a very practical threshold effect when building your basket.
For example:
If your basket is at €65, and shipping would cost €12–20 depending on the destination country, it is often smarter to add another €15 in products and cross the free shipping threshold. That way, instead of paying €12–20 for shipping, you get additional items for only a small increase in basket value (if any).
In simple terms:
- €65 basket + paid shipping = you receive fewer products and pay for shipping
- €80+ basket + free shipping = you spend slightly more but receive more value
For many customers, that makes combo selection the better option.
Payment cards we accept
We only accept credit cards issued in the European Union.
This means we do not accept cards issued outside the EU, including GB-issued Revolut cards or other non-EU cards.
If a card payment fails and the card was not issued in the EU, that is usually the reason.

Final note
Our shipping setup is designed around three priorities:
- discretion
- predictability
- avoiding customs-related inconvenience
We ship from Austria, use neutral packaging, limit shipping to destinations without customs complications, and aim to dispatch quickly once payment has cleared.
